The NAUTILUS is the first nuclear-powered submarine and is the Navy's official submarine museum. The submarine tour is a recorded narration that last approx. 20-30 minutes, and offers automatic translations in English, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. The museum covers submarine history from the first submarine The Turtle to present day submarines. There is bus and R/V parking, and a picnic area that has seating for up to 50. Please Note: The submarine and museum are closed mid-April and the beginning of November for two weeks for bi-annual maintenance and closed on Tuesdays.

The New Britain Youth Museum at Hungerford Park is located on 27 acres of parkland in Kensington. Connecticut. Over 100 different species of reptiles, fish, birds, small mammals and farm animals are housed at the site. Visitors to the site can tour the interactive environmental history exhibit, Changing Seasons, Changing Lives, A History of the Region's People and Their Environment, tour the barnyard and walk over two miles of woodland trails. Programs are available for children and school groups on a wide range of environmental, animal and historical topics. There is a gift shop, picnic area, and coming this spring, a new outdoor play area for children to enjoy.

The center offers education programs covering a range of topics including live Birds of Prey and Animal Menagerie programs for school groups, home school students, scouts and other organizations; offers week long summer day camps for children ages 2-11; offers weekend adult and family programs. The Shore Line Trolley Museum has been an important part of the community since its incorporation in 1945 as the Branford Electric Railway Association. Founded to preserve the unique heritage of an endangered species -- the trolley car -- it now boasts a collection of nearly 100 vintage vehicles as well as artifacts and documents from the trolley era. The Shore Line Trolley Museum operates the Branford Electric Railway, a National Historic Site. The railway is the oldest continuously operating suburban trolley line in the United States.
