A Strategy to Act Locally - Advocate Statewide

The Partnership brings together Connecticut 's large and small companies, State Department of Education, and others to support districts in the use of proven practices to increase science achievement and to advocate for a world-class science education system.

A Window of Opportunity

The new federal No Child Left Behind law requires science assessments in grades five and eight to begin in 2007-2008. School districts are seeking help to prepare for this new accountability level. Commissioner of Education, Dr. Betty J. Sternberg, serves as the partnership's chairperson.

Companies champion the importance
of science education.

  • Local Improvement. Partners select a local school district that is important to their business and are ready to embark on an improvement program. The Partners' funding provides for the application of a science program diagnostic tool followed up with technical assistance.

  • Statewide Advocacy & Outreach . The Partnership supports the message that ALL students must have access to meaningful and challenging science instruction throughout their educational experiences because it is vital to their preparation for citizenry and to the economic vitality of the state.
