Connecticut Building a Presence for Science (CT-BaP) is a network of science educators in all public and private schools, colleges, and informal science and nature centers.
The CT Academy administers the network in collaboration with the Connecticut State Department of Education, Connecticut Science Supervisors Association, and Connecticut Science Teachers Association. It is part of a nation-wide effort led by the National Science Teachers Association.
The Building a Presence for Science network:
• Engages a cadre of leading science educators from across the State as ambassadors for standards-based science education;
• Uses online technologies to connect science educators in nearly 1,200 public and private schools and colleges in Connecticut ; and
• Disseminates information about standards-based instructional and learning materials and professional development opportunities by means of an "e" newsletter, Connecticut Science Connections.
As of March 2009, there are over 1670 Points of Contact representing more than 1,200 of the state's 1,375 public and private K-12 schools, colleges and universities, and informal science centers. All of the state's 166 public school districts are represented.
