CONNvene has evolved from a CT Academy for Education idea to a Connecticut talent-based strategy for economic growth.

Governor M. Jodi Rell authorized the CT Academy for Education to submit a proposal on behalf of Connecticut to hold a Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Engineering (STEM) statewide summit on October 26, 2005. CONNvene: a Platform to Advance a Statewide STEM Dialogue and Strategy was funded by NASA, U.S. Department of Education, and the National Alliance of State Science & Mathematics Coalitions.

CONNvene is a statewide Pre-Kindergarten through baccalaureate degree (PreK-16) initiative to improve student interest and achievement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to better meet Connecticut's 21st Century economic development, quality of life, and workforce preparation needs. After six months of research and deliberations, more than 100 citizens, business, policy, and education leaders identified four goals and 18 lead action items considered both important and achievable.

The OWC, working in partnership with the Governor's Office and Connecticut General Assembly, is implementing a broad-based, bold new initiative to ensure that Connecticut has a talent pipeline that is all-inclusive and diverse. The initiative will operate as a seamless continuum, encompassing the state's early childhood education efforts at one end and world-class research and development and entrepreneurship at the other end.

The Connecticut Academy for Education is pleased to be part of this exciting endeavor and proud of our role as catalyst and broker to move CONNvene from an idea to action.
